"The Adelphic Literary Society has been revived and put squarely on its feet and it is plain to be seen that the members mean business. Those who are interesting themselves in the movement have come to appreciate more fully than ever the value of a literary society and are actuated by a felt need which nothing but the society can supply. With such a feeling as this as its basis, the work is sure to be a success, It is probable that the society will be run on principles somewhat different from those which have pre-vailed here formerly. It is the intention to keep clearly before the members the object of the organization, namely, their own advancement in literary work. The failure to strive toward such an aim and the attempt to make the societies places of amusement and entertainment for the public have been great hindrances in the past, The present organization is virtually a new society, though retaining the old name and composed largely of members of the old Adelphic. It will endeavor to profit by the failures of former societies and remove the stumbling blocks over which they have fallen. With the energy and enthusiasm now displayed by the members, unlimited prosperity should result. Long live the Adelphic!" - The Argus 1896-11-06, pg. 6
