"Upsilon chapter of Alpha Tau Delta, professional fraternity for women in the field of nursing, will be installed May 16 [1965]. Dr. Mary Shanks will be chapter advisor for the group, the newest organization on the campus. It will become a part of Professional Panhllenic. Wesleyan's chapter will be founded in honor of Miss Annabel Hartramft...To qualify for membership in Alpha Tau Delta, a student must be enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program in a School of Nursing fully accredited by the National League of Nursing...It was formed to further higher professional educational standards for women in the nursing profession, to inaugurate projects that strengthen the specific field of professional nursing and to form a close bond of mutural helpfulness and understanding among college women in the nursing profession. ATD participates as any other professional fraternity in the activities of the campus. They plan educational, professional social, and philantropic programs. They also raise money for scholarships, grants and loans that are to be given to seserving students in the nursing programs on a college campus. An Alpha Tau Delta Award Key may be presented to outstanding members who have attained merit in any area of achievement for nursing." -The Argus (1965-04-16), pg. 3
