Marjorie Kouns Collection, 1975 - 2018

 Collection
Identifier: 13-1: Kouns, Marjorie

Scope and Contents

This collection documents Kouns time as a student at IWU including materials pertaining to her student art projects, her life as a student, and her post-IWU career. Material types include design notes, class papers, correspondence, photographs, slides, negatives, contact sheets, exhibit and theater programs, scrapbooks, resumes, publicity, marketing materials, and ephemera. The bulk of the materials are stored in a legal-sized document box given to Kouns from the New York Public library's Wallach Division. Kouns has donated a collection pertaining to her New York public artworks to the library. In return, she was given her choice of used document boxes which the library no longer needed. Kouns choose Isamu Noguchi's box (as well as others) as his art inspires her work.

This collection is arranged into four series:

    I. Student Art Projects/Classes

    II. Student Life

    III. Post-IWU Career

    IV. Oversized
