Illinois Wesleyan University Pride Alliance (IWUPA)

The IWU Pride Alliance is a student-run organization dedicated to equality for all students regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We provide socially, politically and by any other means necessary to help ensure the safety and equality for all in the community. The Pride Alliance functions both on and off campus. We believe that by educating and informing students on campus we can help to make our community a safer and more accepting place. (Mission Statement) This organization was previously know as the Gay/Straight Alliance from 1996- 2001. The current IWU Pride Alliance was reactivated in the fall of 2003. There is also research included about a previous organization G.L.O.W. (Gays and Lesbians of Wesleyan) that was a precursor to the IWU Gay/Straight Alliance that was active from 1992-1996.
