Alpha Gamma Delta, Xi Chapter was installed at IWU in 1914. The Xi chapter became the 14th chapter nationally when nine girls were pledged on Aug. 14. 1914. The nine girls were members of Pi Delta Phi, a local sorority, who petitioned the Grand Council of Alpha Gamma Delta for a charter.Seven of these girls were working on this for two years. It was felt at the time that IWU need a fourth women's sorority.

It was not until 1927 that sororities at Wesleyan were able to rent chapter houses; previous to this time each group was allocated a room in a campus building for its meetings. With the help of many sorority alumnae, sororities were eventually allowed to purchase chapter houses in 1929. On June 26, 1930, their dream became a reality when the ladies of Xi Chapter became the first sorority on Illinois Wesleyan's campus to buy a house at 1409 North Main Street.

Mission Statement: Alpha Gamma Delta is committed to providing opportunities for personal development, service to others and the space for members to forge their own paths—all through a lifelong spirit of sisterhood.
