Biographical / Historical
Wesleyan's Sociology Department has announced formation of sociological fraternity chapter Zeta, to be organized Friday morning at 11:00 in Room 208 Shaw Hall. Recently approved by National Sociological Honor Society United Chapters of Alpha Kappa Delta, the local chapter will be open to both students and faculty. Student eligibility requires an over all scholastic average of B, with at least 10 hours of sociology courses, excluding Social Science. No less than a B average is permitted in sociology, but a sociology major is not required. Membership is also open to qualified alumni. Representing the culmination of over a year's work on the part of the sociology department, the establishment of Zeta chapter was subject to approval by chapters of 105 university campuses. The qualifications of the staff, number and types of courses, and number of students enrolled in sociology courses were taken into consideration. Wesleyan is the sixth university in Illinois to earn a chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta. -The Argus, 3/18/1966
