WESN/WJBC

WESN is IWU's radio station. Talk of a radio station at IWU began in 1970. It was implemented in 1972. When it started, programming was educational programs not only for the University but the for the Bloomington-Normal area. It went on the air on Apr. 14, 1972. The radio station was 88.1 FM and the studio was located in the basement of Kemp Hall. In the late 1970's WESN became an alternative radio station, specializing in rock, jazz, disco, soul, country, live bands, and special shows.

WJBC is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Bloomington, Illinois, and serving the Bloomington-Normal region. It broadcasts a news/talk radio format
