"Future Teachers of America is the name given to an organization sponsored by the National Education Association and the Illinois Education Association. A chapter of this group is being formed on Wesleyan's campus. Membership is open to any person interested in the possibility of teaching as a career and offers many opportunities to gain insights in and information concerning teaching. Wesleyan has a large number of persons interested in teaching and should have a chapter of FTA on its campus, there being more than a dozen chapters at other Illinois schools, the nearest being at State Normal. There will be an organization meeting held Tuesday evening, January 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the faculty lounge of Memorial Center. A representative group of the State Normal chapter will be present to help outline the purposes and work of the organization. If there is sufficient interest in the project, steps will be taken at that meeting to form a Wesleyan chapter." -The Argus, 12/12/56
