The first mention of the South Asian Students Association (SASA) is 1999. It was created by South Asian students in an effort to provide themselves with an environment in which they could interact with, suppor, and share experiences with memberso the the same ethnic and cultural background.

The purpose of the South Asian Student Association is to promote awareness about the South Asian culture throughout the campus. The goals of this organization are to educate and expose the Illinois Wesleyan community to various aspects of South Asian culture; including observation of holidays, current events, history, and other cultural activities. These goals are achieved through numerous activities that celebrate this unique group. The culmination of these activities is the annual cultural show that highlights the talents of the club members.

SASA sponsors events such as Rhaki, CelebrASIA, and diversity workshops.
