Biographical / Historical
Terrapin Club, formerly the Women's Swimming Club, was established on the camopus in 1938. The club changed it's name to the Terrapin Club in 1950. The purpose of this club, is to promote interest in synchronized swimming throulgh the production of a water ballet. Club members not only perform in the ballet, but also write acts, direct numbers, construct scenery, and design costumes. Members are selected during tryouts which are held early in the year.
The name was selected on the, basis that over half of the university swimming clubs are named Terrapin and that there is a definite possibility that a swimming honorary may develop under that name. Pins, in the shape of a terrapin, with a "W" on its back are being ordered for the members to purchase. -The Argus 2-8-1950
