Elite Journal, 1888 - 1892
The Elite Society, an anti-franternity organization, in 1887, established the Elite Journal, for the purpose of championing barbarian principles. This spicy sheet lived until 1892, and numbered among its chief editors, S.W. Hopkins, Henry Harnley, H.S. Magill, Chas. Cole, W.W. Whitmore, and Eugene Landon. The Elite society was threatened with suspension for publishing but no action was taken.
Evolve (Fine Arts Journal), 1997 - 2000
Evolve is a literary magazine whose purpose is "to find the Voice of Illinois Wesleyan University. To discover what exactly it is we are all thinking about and to form a new literary magazine based upon that principle." (1997/1998 issue)
First Edition, 1967
"We will be most happy if you will remember this publication as the love-child of a holy union between rebellion and creativity" (Afterword). The First Edition contains short stories and poems written by the students of Illinois Wesleyan University.
Green Inklings, 1936 - 1942
"Many delightful bits of writing, contributed by members of the Freshman class, stimulated in their readers a desire for a collection of these promising gems, that they might as a group be studied and enjoyed. "Green Inklings" has been a result of the combined efforts of the Freshman class.
Intellectual Standard, 2012 - 2014
The Intellectual Standard is an interdisciplinary student-run academic journal. With philosophy as its fundamental base, it covered a myriad of topics, including the social sciences, the natural sciences, current events, culture, and art. Its goal was to bring intellectual thought into the mainstream environment of Illinois Wesleyan University, and thereby set an intellectual standard for students, professors, and publications alike.
